A. R. Rahman did not just score Indian films, he rewired the sound of them. When Roja arrived in 1992, the fusion of Indian classical, electronica and world music felt like a door opening, and the industry has been walking through it ever since. The nickname “Mozart of Madras” stuck for a reason.
