Privacy policy
Short version: we do not ask you for anything. No account, no login, no newsletter, no comment box. What follows is the honest detail of the few things that do happen while you read a story.
Who runs this site
GaraMasalaFM is operated by MomentumLab AI Pty Ltd (ABN 72 684 179 646), a company registered in Australia. This policy is written under Australian privacy law and applies to garamasalafm.com and the media subdomain media.garamasalafm.com.
What we do not collect
There is no sign up on this site and no place to create an account, so we hold no usernames, no passwords and no profiles. We run no contact form, no newsletter list and no comment system, so we are not storing your name or your email address. We take no payments here, so we never see card or banking details. We do not sell data, because we do not have any to sell.
The only way we end up with your email address is if you choose to write to us. In that case we hold your message for as long as it takes to deal with it, and we use it only to reply.
What is collected automatically
Like every website, our host sees the technical details of your request: IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, and the page that referred you. The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes these request logs for delivery and security, and may set a cookie to distinguish genuine readers from abusive traffic.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand which stories people read and where readers come from. It records page views, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. It uses cookies to do this. We look at it in aggregate, to decide what to cover next. We do not try to identify individual readers and we do not upload any personal identifiers into it.
Cookies and similar technology
Cookies are small files a site or its partners store in your browser. The cookies in play here fall into three groups:
- Measurement. Google Analytics sets cookies to count visits and tell a returning reader from a new one.
- Security and delivery. Cloudflare may set a cookie to keep the site fast and to filter bot traffic.
- Advertising. See the next section.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work. Google also publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics entirely, attools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Advertising
GaraMasalaFM carries, or intends to carry, advertising served by Google, including Google AdSense. This is how the cameras get paid for.
- Google, as a third party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. The DoubleClick DART cookie and similar identifiers let Google and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this site and to other sites on the internet.
- Ads may be personalised or non personalised depending on your settings and on the privacy laws where you live. Where consent is required before personalised advertising cookies are used, you will be asked for it, and refusing simply means you see non personalised ads instead.
- Third party ad networks and exchanges other than Google may also serve ads here in future, and they may likewise set cookies. Their use of data is governed by their own privacy policies, not this one.
You can turn off personalised advertising from Google atgoogle.com/settings/ads, read how Google uses data from partner sites atpolicies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of many third party vendors at once ataboutads.info/choicesor, in Europe, atyouronlinechoices.eu.
Embedded media
Most of our photos and video are our own, hosted on our own media domain, and they set no cookies. Some stories embed a post from a platform instead:
- Instagram. Where a story embeds an Instagram post, Meta's embed script loads from instagram.com. Meta then sees that request and may set its own cookies, exactly as if you had opened the post there.
- YouTube. Video is embedded through youtube-nocookie.com, the privacy enhanced mode, which does not store viewing cookies unless you press play.
Those embeds are governed by Meta's and Google's privacy policies. Our typefaces are served from our own server, so no font request leaves the site.
Children
This is a general entertainment news site and it is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, write to us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. Since we run no accounts and no mailing list, the honest answer for almost every reader is that we hold nothing tied to your name. If you want to check, ask.
Changes
If we add something that changes how data is handled, this page gets updated and the effective date at the top moves. There is no small print version of this page kept somewhere else.
Privacy questions go to the same place as everything else, ourcontact page. Ask plainly and you will get a plain answer.
