Abhay Deol

Abhay Deol is an Indian actor and producer born on 15 March 1976, a member of the Deol film dynasty as the nephew of Dharmendra and cousin to Sunny and Bobby Deol. He chose a markedly different path from his action-hero relatives, building a reputation as Hindi cinema’s most reliable contrarian.

After debuting in Imtiaz Ali’s Socha Na Tha (2005), he found his groove in offbeat films like Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008) and Anurag Kashyap’s Dev.D (2009), a bold modern spin on Devdas. His biggest commercial hit came with the ensemble Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), followed by the romantic drama Raanjhanaa (2013).

Off screen he is known for speaking bluntly about the industry, famously calling out fairness-cream endorsements. He continues to pick selective roles, most recently appearing in Son of Sardaar 2, and is in a long-term relationship with actress Preeti Desai.
