Abhishek Banerjee is an Indian actor and casting director born on 5 May 1985 in Kharagpur, who built a reputation on both sides of the camera before becoming a screen favourite. As a casting director he helped assemble the ensembles for acclaimed projects like Mirzapur and Paatal Lok.
As an actor he became a household name playing the hapless Jana in the horror-comedy hit Stree (2018) and its universe of sequels, Bhediya and Stree 2. His chilling turn as the mute killer Hathoda Tyagi in Paatal Lok showed a very different register and cemented his range.
He has since become one of the busiest character actors in Hindi film and streaming, equally convincing as comic relief or quiet menace.
