Adnan Sami Khan

Adnan Sami Khan, born in London in 1971 to a Pakistani father and Indian mother, is a pianist and vocalist styled as the “Sultan of Music” by Times of India. He began piano lessons at five and accumulated credits in over 35 instruments; Keyboard Magazine named him “the fastest keyboard player in the world.”

His 1991 album Raag Time signaled his shift from classical virtuosity to singing, yielding the melancholic “Teri Yaad Aati Hai.” Later, tracks like “Tu Sirf Mera Mehboob” from Ajnabee solidified his template: orchestral arrangements paired with songs about longing. He has collaborated with Asha Bhosle and acted in the 1995 Pakistani film Sargam.

An Indian citizen since 2016 and Padma Shri recipient in 2020, Sami’s music occupies the space between classical aspiration and pop accessibility, reaching audiences drawn to lush instrumentation and sincere emotion.
