Ali Asgar

Ali Asgar is an Indian actor and comedian born on 7 December 1970 in Mumbai, one of Hindi television’s most recognisable comic character artists. He started young, on the Doordarshan children’s show Ek Do Teen Char in 1987, and spent years in soap operas, notably as Kamal in Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.

His fame, though, rests on comedy. As the sharp-tongued Dadi in Comedy Nights with Kapil and later The Kapil Sharma Show, he turned a cross-dressing granny act into one of the small screen’s best-loved characters, all exaggerated mannerisms and perfect timing.

Fearless about looking silly and rarely off the comedy circuit, he has made a long career out of making the country laugh.
