Ameesha Patel

Born Amisha Amit Patel in 1975, Ameesha Patel is an Indian actress known for her work across Hindi and Telugu cinema. She made her breakthrough with Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai opposite Hrithik Roshan in 2000, which established her as a rising star and earned her a nomination for Best Female Debut. Following this, she appeared in successful films including Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Humraaz, winning multiple awards including Filmfare recognition.

Patel studied at Tufts University in Massachusetts before beginning her career in entertainment. She trained in Bharatnatyam dance from age five and performed in theatre plays before entering cinema. Beyond acting, she launched her production company, Ameesha Patel Productions, in 2011 and participated in the reality show Bigg Boss 13 in 2019. She comes from a prominent Mumbai family, being the granddaughter of freedom fighter and former Justice Rajni Patel.

Throughout her career, Patel has worked with major Bollywood actors including Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol, and Sanjay Dutt. Her career saw notable success in the early 2000s, followed by a phase of mixed results, though she has continued to work across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema while managing her production ventures.
