Amruta Khanvilkar is an Indian actress born on 23 November 1984 in Mumbai, one of the leading names of Marathi cinema who also turns up in Hindi films. Raised in Pune, she launched her career on the 2004 talent hunt India’s Best Cinestars Ki Khoj.
She built a Marathi filmography of hits like Saade Maade Teen and the horror film Phoonk, but her breakthrough was the musical period drama Katyar Kaljat Ghusli in 2015, which won her wide acclaim. Hindi audiences know her from Raazi and from her fiery item numbers. She is among the highest-paid actresses in Marathi cinema.
Glamorous and a trained dancer, she has balanced serious roles with reality-show stardom. She married actor Himmanshoo Malhotra in 2015, and the pair won Nach Baliye together.
