A National School of Drama graduate and daughter of actress Jyoti Subhash, she holds a National Film Award and multiple Filmfare honours.
She drew wide Hindi-audience notice as Ranveer Singh’s mother in Gully Boy, and delivered searing work in the series Sacred Games and Bombay Begums. Her Marathi films like Astu are widely admired. She is also a trained playback singer.
Intense and deeply committed, she brings ferocious honesty to her roles.
She is married to theatre director Sandesh Kulkarni.
