Amruta Subhash is an Indian actress and singer born on 13 May 1979 in Mumbai, one of the most decorated performers in Marathi cinema who has also made a strong mark in Hindi film and streaming. A National School of Drama graduate and daughter of actress Jyoti Subhash, she holds a National Film Award and multiple Filmfare honours.
She drew wide Hindi-audience notice as Ranveer Singh’s mother in Gully Boy, and delivered searing work in the series Sacred Games and Bombay Begums. Her Marathi films like Astu are widely admired. She is also a trained playback singer.
Intense and deeply committed, she brings ferocious honesty to her roles.
She is married to theatre director Sandesh Kulkarni.
