Anil Kapoor

Anil Kapoor has been a movie star for so long, and shows so few signs of stopping, that his relentless energy has become a running national joke, the man who apparently negotiated a private exemption from ageing. Four decades and a hundred-plus films in, he is still turning up in the year’s biggest releases.

Mr. India made him an eighties icon, Tezaab and Lamhe proved the range, and then, decades later, Slumdog Millionaire and the American series 24 gave him a genuine second act on the world stage. Animal in 2023 reminded everyone he could still command a screen full of younger stars. The Kapoor clan he heads, Sonam, Rhea, Harshvardhan, is a film dynasty in its own right now.

Married to Sunita since 1984, he is a permanent, cheerful fixture on every red carpet in Mumbai. The cameras adore him, and ours are no exception.
