Ashish Nehra was born on April 29, 1979, in Delhi and became one of India’s most dependable left-arm medium-fast bowlers over a career spanning nearly two decades. He played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 26 T20 Internationals, achieving a career-best ODI performance of 6 for 23 against England and contributing to India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.
Despite frequent injury setbacks, Nehra demonstrated remarkable resilience and was integral to the Indian team that reached the 2003 World Cup final. His ability to swing the ball both ways and adapt across formats made him a consistent asset in India’s bowling attack from the late 1990s through the 2000s.
After retiring from international cricket in November 2017, Nehra transitioned into coaching. In 2022, as head coach of Gujarat Titans, he achieved IPL history by leading the franchise to the championship in their inaugural season.
