Atul Kulkarni is an Indian actor and screenwriter born on 10 September 1965, a National School of Drama graduate admired across several film industries. He announced his talent early, winning National Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor for both Hey Ram (2000) and Chandni Bar (2001).
He reached his widest audience as the intense Laxman Pandey in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti (2006), and delivered a career-best lead in the acclaimed Marathi film Natarang (2010). He works comfortably in Hindi, Marathi and South Indian cinema, and has also turned to screenwriting.
He is married to theatre and film actress Geetanjali Kulkarni, whom he met at drama school.
