Chandan Roy Sanyal

Chandan Roy Sanyal is an Indian actor born on 30 January 1980 in Delhi, working across Hindi and Bengali cinema and, increasingly, streaming. After a minor part in Rang De Basanti (2006), he seized attention with a fierce supporting turn as Mikhail in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey (2009).

He reached a much wider audience as the sinister aide Bhopa Swami in the Bobby Deol series Aashram, and has taken on layered roles in the anthology-flavoured period drama Jubilee and the romantic drama Prague. He also works in Bengali films and directs.

Intense and theatrical, he gravitates toward flamboyant, unsettling characters.
