Dhanashree Verma qualified as a dentist and then went and did something else entirely, which takes a particular kind of nerve. Born in Dubai in 1996 and raised in Mumbai, she took a Bachelor’s in Dentistry from DY Patil Dental College in Navi Mumbai while training in dance at the Shiamak Davar institute, contemporary, Bollywood and hip-hop.
She launched her YouTube channel in 2015 with tutorials and covers, and it grew into a genuine career. She now runs the Dhanashree Verma Company and is one of the most followed dance figures in the country. Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 in 2023 took her to the finals and to a television audience.
Her marriage to the cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal in 2020 raised her profile considerably, and their separation in 2025 did the same for less enjoyable reasons. She is not the first person to find that the cameras arrive for one story and stay for the work.
