Disha Patani made her Hindi-film debut playing Dhoni’s first girlfriend in the cricketer’s biopic, a small role that got outsized attention, and has spent the years since as one of Bollywood’s designated action-glamour leads. The films have not always deserved her, but the screen presence has rarely been in doubt.

Baaghi 2 and Malang leaned on her comfort with stunt work and dance, and Kung Fu Yoga even paired her with Jackie Chan. She is as much a fitness and fashion phenomenon on social media as a film star, with a following that dwarfs many of her co-stars’, which is its own kind of modern career.
