Emiway Bantai is the stage name of Bilal Shaikh, a Mumbai-based rapper who became one of India’s biggest hip-hop artists entirely through social media. Born in Bangalore in 1995, he relocated to Mumbai as an infant and dropped out of school after 11th grade to pursue music full-time, inspired by Eminem’s lyricism and technical prowess.

He broke through with “Machayenge” in 2019, establishing himself as a party-starter with Hindi bangers that resonated across India. A multilingual artist proficient in Hindi, English, Marathi, and Tamil, he landed a feature on the Gully Boy soundtrack and won Radio City Freedom Awards for Best Hip-Hop Act three consecutive years.

Emiway’s career has been defined by high-profile feuds with fellow rappers Raftaar, DIVINE, MC Stan, and KR$NA, exchanging diss tracks that kept him culturally relevant.
