Fatima Sana Shaikh acted as a child before disappearing from screens for years, then came back in the most emphatic way possible: cast as the elder Phogat sister in Dangal, one of the biggest Indian films ever made, and holding her own opposite Aamir Khan in the wrestling scenes she trained hard for.
That launch was a hard act to follow, and the run since has been mixed, the ambitious flop Thugs of Hindostan, a nice ensemble turn in Ludo, the war biopic Sam Bahadur, the road movie Dhak Dhak. She has been open about living with epilepsy, which is rare candour for a working actress, and increasingly picks projects with an independent streak.
