Guneet Monga Kapoor

Guneet Monga Kapoor is a Mumbai-based film producer and founder of Sikhya Entertainment, a boutique production house known for creating critically acclaimed independent cinema. Born in Delhi in 1983, she has emerged as one of India’s most significant voices in contemporary filmmaking, establishing herself through films like Gangs of Wasseypur, The Lunchbox, and Masaan.

Her greatest recognition came in 2023 when she produced The Elephant Whisperers, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film, making her among the first Indian producers inducted into the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She previously served as executive producer on Period. End of Sentence., which won the 2019 Oscar for Best Documentary Short Film, establishing her track record with internationally acclaimed work.

Beyond her production achievements, Monga was conferred the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Government in 2021, honoring her contributions to Indo-French cinematic collaborations. She has also founded Indian Women Rising, a cinema collective dedicated to discovering and distributing work by Indian women filmmakers globally.
