Yo Yo Honey Singh

For a couple of years around 2012, Yo Yo Honey Singh was simply the biggest thing in Indian pop music, the Punjabi rapper-producer whose party tracks were unavoidable at every club, wedding and Bollywood item number. Brown Rang and Lungi Dance were less songs than events.

Then he vanished, and later spoke openly about the bipolar disorder and substance problems that pulled him out of public life at the height of it all, one of the more candid mental-health accounts the industry has heard from a male star. His comeback has been gradual and closely watched, the appetite for the sound never having fully gone away.

That dramatic arc keeps him a figure of real public curiosity, and a paparazzi draw whenever he resurfaces. Our cameras take note when he does.
