Javed Ali

Javed Ali is a prominent Indian playback singer born in Delhi who rose to prominence with his rendition of Jashn-e-Bahara in 2008, which earned him an IIFA Award for Best Male Playback Singer. Originally named Javed Hussain, he adopted the surname Ali as a tribute to legendary ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, who mentored him from an early age. His father, Ustad Hamid Hussain, was a respected qawwali singer who nurtured his musical inclinations.

Over his career spanning more than two decades, Ali has become one of Bollywood’s most prolific playback singers, contributing to over a hundred films across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Urdu. His extensive collaborations with music director A. R. Rahman have been particularly notable. Beyond cinema, he has judged reality television shows including Indian Idol, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs, and Superstar Singer.

Ali’s distinctive soulful voice and versatility have established him as a significant figure in Indian music. His major hits span from early 2000s work through contemporary releases, and his live performances continue to be acclaimed across India and internationally. He remains actively engaged in both playback singing and independent music projects.
