Kangana Ranaut is an Indian actress, filmmaker and politician born on 23 March 1987 in Bhambla, Himachal Pradesh, one of the most acclaimed and outspoken figures in Hindi cinema. She rose from a striking debut in Gangster (2006) and a breakout in Fashion (2008), which won her a National Film Award.
She reached her peak with back-to-back National Awards for Best Actress in Queen (2014) and Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), cementing her as a rare female star who could carry a film alone. She turned director and lead with the period epic Manikarnika. In 2024 she was elected a Member of Parliament from Mandi.
Fiercely independent and often controversial, she has always insisted on charting her own path.
