Manav Kaul is an Indian actor, playwright and author born on 19 December 1976, one of the most quietly creative figures in contemporary Hindi cinema. He founded the theatre group Aranya in 2004 and has written and directed more than a dozen plays.
On screen he made his mark as a right-wing politician in Kai Po Che! (2013) and earned Filmfare nominations for Tumhari Sulu and the sports biopic Saina. Equally comfortable as a menacing antagonist or a gentle presence, he chooses his film roles selectively while continuing to write acclaimed Hindi books.
A genuine polymath, he moves between stage, screen and literature on his own terms.
