Meghna Gulzar is an Indian writer, director, and producer born on 13 December 1973 in Mumbai. She is the daughter of celebrated lyricist and poet Gulzar and former actress Raakhee.
She began her career as a screenwriter on her father’s 1999 film Hu Tu Tu, then made her directorial debut with the drama Filhaal… (2002). After an eight-year sabbatical, she returned with the critically acclaimed Talvar (2015), which earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Director.
Her breakthrough came with Raazi (2018), a spy thriller that became one of Hindi cinema’s highest-grossing films and won her the Filmfare Award for Best Director. She has since directed notable works including Chhapaak (2020) and Sam Bahadur (2023), establishing herself as one of Hindi cinema’s most respected contemporary filmmakers.
