Mrunal Thakur came up through Hindi television, including a long run on a popular soap, before making the jump to film that most TV actors attempt and few complete. Super 30 and Batla House put her in serious Hindi releases opposite established leads, and she held her own.

The bigger surprise has been her second life in Telugu cinema, where Sita Ramam turned her into a genuine star and Hi Nanna confirmed it. Working the Hindi and Telugu industries in parallel has given her a reach that a purely Bollywood career would not have, and the roles down south have often been the richer ones.

She is a growing paparazzi draw in Mumbai, photographed at airports and events as her stock rises. Our cameras have started to see a lot more of her.
