Mukesh Khanna is best known for creating and starring as the titular superhero in Shaktimaan (1997–2005), the Indian television juggernaut that cemented his status as a household name across Hindi television. The actor-producer graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India, where he studied alongside future stars Naseeruddin Shah and Shakti Kapoor before launching his entertainment career.
Before Shaktimaan, Khanna earned significant recognition playing Bhishma in B.R. Chopra’s landmark adaptation of Mahabharat (1988–1990). His filmography spans over 60 Bollywood films since his 1981 debut in Roohi, earning him an Uptron Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1989. He has also been recognized with multiple Indian Telly Awards nominations for his television work.
Today, Khanna remains active in Indian media through his entertainment company Bheeshm International and The Mukesh Khanna Show, a YouTube channel with 1.37 million subscribers. He continues to be recognized as one of Indian television’s defining figures from the 1990s and 2000s.
