Nana Patekar is an Indian actor, writer and filmmaker born on 1 January 1951 in Murud-Janjira, Maharashtra, one of the most intense and distinctive performers Hindi cinema has produced. He is the only actor to have won Filmfare Awards in the Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Villain categories.
He broke through with a National Award-winning role in Parinda (1989), then delivered a career-defining, fiery performance in Krantiveer (1994). He has ranged from the chilling cop of Ab Tak Chhappan to the lovable gangster Uday Shetty in the comedy blockbuster Welcome, and the political heavyweight of Raajneeti.
Famed for his crackling voice and volcanic screen energy, he remains a genuine acting institution.
