Neelam Kothari Soni

Neelam Kothari Soni, known professionally as Neelam, is an Indian actress and jewellery designer born in Hong Kong to a Gujarati Jain father and Parsi mother. She became a popular Bollywood figure in the late 1980s, known for her ‘girl-next-door’ charm and frequent pairings with actor Govinda, appearing in films like Ilzaam and Sindoor. After stepping back from acting in the 2000s, she transitioned to jewellery design, launching her brand Neelam Kothari Fine Jewels in 2011.

She married actor Samir Soni in 2011 and adopted a daughter named Ahana in 2013. Neelam made a notable comeback to the screen with Netflix’s Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives in 2020, appearing alongside Maheep Kapoor, Bhavna Pandey, and Seema Sajdeh. She has since expanded her professional portfolio to include interior design and continues to be active in the entertainment industry.

Notable career milestones include supporting roles in acclaimed films such as Agneepath (1990) opposite Amitabh Bachchan and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), for which she received a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Zee Cine Awards in 2000. She was acquitted of poaching charges in 2018 related to the filming of Hum Saath-Saath Hain.
