Neha Kakkar

Neha Kakkar sang at religious gatherings as a child in Rishikesh, auditioned for a reality show, got eliminated, and then built one of the most commercially dominant singing careers in the country largely on her own hustle. For a stretch she seemed to be on every second Bollywood party track and remix going.

The remix is, in fact, central to her story: she became the go-to voice for the reworked retro hit, a trend the purists grumbled about and the charts rewarded handsomely. She has also been a long-running reality-show judge, which kept her a television fixture as much as a musical one. Her sheer social-media following turned her into a brand well beyond the songs.

Married to the singer Rohanpreet Singh, she is a familiar, camera-friendly presence at events. Our lenses see her often.
