Nimrat Kaur is an Indian actress born in Pilani, Rajasthan in 1982 into a Sikh family. She began her career as a print model before transitioning to theatre in Mumbai, working with directors Sunil Shanbag and Manav Kaul. Her Hindi film debut came in 2012 with Peddlers, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
She rose to international prominence through her critically acclaimed role in The Lunchbox (2014), followed by Airlift (2016) alongside Akshay Kumar. This success opened doors to American television, where she landed significant roles in HBO’s Homeland and the series Wayward Pines, establishing her as a crossover talent in both Bollywood and global entertainment.
Back in Indian media, Kaur gained recognition for The Family Man and Dasvi, showcasing her range across film and digital platforms. She won the Indian Television Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Test Case, a military drama where she played a female officer in the Indian army.
