Pooja Hegde was a Miss Universe India finalist before films, and unlike a lot of pageant-to-screen stories, hers took root most firmly in the south rather than in Bollywood. She became one of the highest-paid actresses in Telugu cinema, opposite the biggest male stars going, well before Hindi audiences had fully clocked her.
Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and Aravinda Sametha were the Telugu blockbusters that made her, and she has toggled between industries since, taking Hindi projects like Housefull 4 and Tamil ones like Beast opposite Vijay. It is a pan-Indian career in the truest sense, run across three or four languages at once.
