Poonam Pandey has spent fifteen years being famous on her own terms, which in this industry usually means being underestimated by everyone with a film to sell. Born in 1991, she started modelling in 2010 and reached the top nine of the Gladrags Manhunt and Megamodel contest, then landed a magazine cover and, more usefully, the internet’s full attention.

She debuted in Hindi cinema with the erotic film Nasha in 2013. The reality circuit did the rest, Khatron Ke Khiladi 4 in 2011 and then Lock Upp in 2022, which is the format built precisely for people who are more interesting than their filmography.

She is a media personality first and an actress second, and she has never pretended otherwise. That honesty is a large part of why the cameras still turn up.
