R. Madhavan is an Indian actor, director and producer born on 1 June 1970, a rare star equally beloved in Tamil and Hindi cinema. After making his name in Tamil films, he charmed Hindi audiences as the lovelorn Maddy in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001).
He became a fixture of hit ensembles as Farhan in 3 Idiots (2009) and the exasperated groom of the Tanu Weds Manu films, and later showed his intensity in Vikram Vedha. In 2022 he directed, produced and starred in the acclaimed biopic Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, which won a National Film Award.
He married Sarita Birje in 1999, and the couple has a son.
