Raashii Khanna is a genuine three-industry actor, which is rarer than the marketing suggests. Born in New Delhi in 1990, she started in Hindi with a supporting role in Madras Cafe in 2013, then went south and built the real career there.
Oohalu Gusagusalade in 2014 won her the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut in Telugu, and what followed is a filmography most Hindi leads would envy: Bengal Tiger, Supreme, Jai Lava Kusa, Tholi Prema, Venky Mama, Prati Roju Pandage. Tamil came too, Imaikkaa Nodigal, Adanga Maru, Thiruchitrambalam, Sardar, Aranmanai 4.
Then Hindi streaming noticed. Rudra: The Edge of Darkness in 2022 and Farzi in 2023 introduced her to an audience that had somehow missed a decade of hits, which says more about the north-south divide than about her.
