Raghubir Yadav is an Indian actor and singer born on 25 June 1957 in Jabalpur, one of the finest character performers of his generation with roots in Parsi theatre and the National School of Drama. He won international best-actor honours for his very first film, Massey Sahib (1985).
He gave an indelible performance as the drug-addicted Chillum in Mira Nair’s Oscar-nominated Salaam Bombay! (1988), and has featured in three films nominated for the foreign-language Oscar: Salaam Bombay!, Lagaan and Water. Later he charmed a new generation as the wily Pradhan Pati Brij Bhushan in the hit series Panchayat.
A soulful actor and singer, he brings folk texture and deep authenticity to every role.
