Randeep Hooda is an Indian actor and director born on 20 August 1976, admired for the physical and emotional commitment he brings to demanding roles. After a slow start, he built a reputation as one of Hindi cinema’s most intense performers.
He drew acclaim for Imtiaz Ali’s Highway (2014) and for his gruelling transformation as the imprisoned Sarbjit Singh in Sarbjit (2016), and made a memorable villain in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. In 2024 he turned director with the biographical drama Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, which he also co-wrote and starred in.
A method-minded actor known for extreme preparation, he favours weighty, real-life material.
He married Manipuri actress Lin Laishram in 2023.
