Born into a Bengali film family in Mumbai in 1977, Rupali Ganguly is the daughter of acclaimed director Anil Ganguly. She began performing at age seven in her father’s films before pursuing formal training in hotel management and theatre.
Ganguly’s breakthrough came via the medical drama Sanjivani, but the role that defined her was Monisha Sarabhai in the beloved sitcom Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. After a seven-year hiatus, she returned in 2020 as the title character in StarPlus’s Anupamaa, which has become her signature role. She expanded into digital media with the web series Anupama: Namaste America on Disney+ Hotstar.
Now among Indian television’s most recognized and highest-paid performers, Ganguly has won multiple Indian Telly Awards. She married businessman Ashwin K. Verma in 2013 and maintains a focused career in the medium that made her famous.
