Shilpa Shirodkar

A former photo model turned actress, Shilpa Shirodkar emerged as one of Hindi cinema’s most bankable stars in the 1990s. She debuted in Bhrashtachar (1989) and quickly climbed the ranks with a string of commercially successful films that showcased her appeal to the era’s mass audiences.

At the height of her career, she delivered hits including Hum, Kishen Kanhaiya, Khuda Gawah, and Aankhen. Her performance in Khuda Gawah earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Supporting Actress in 1993, cementing her status as a serious performer. She dominated the Hindi film landscape throughout the 1990s before stepping back from the spotlight.

After marriage and a 13-year hiatus abroad, she returned to acting through television, appearing in Zee TV’s Ek Mutthi Aasmaan in 2013. Her participation in Bigg Boss 18 (2024) introduced her to a new generation of viewers and marked a renewed presence in Indian entertainment.
