Shubhangi Atre was born on April 11, 1981, in Indore to a PWD engineer father and a homemaker mother. She completed her schooling at Bal Niketan Higher Secondary School and holds an MBA degree. A trained classical dancer, she began her entertainment career with voice work for animated films and stage performances.
Atre made her acting debut in Kasautii Zindagii Kay playing Palchinn Basu, but gained recognition as the titular lead in the TV series Kasturi (2007-09). She became widely known for her role as Angoori Manmohan Tiwari in Bhabhi Ghar Par Hain!, one of India’s longest-running comedy sitcoms. She won the Miss Madhya Pradesh title in 2003 and received multiple ITA Awards for Best Actress in Comedy between 2016 and 2019.
Atre married Piyush Poorey in 2003 and has a daughter named Ashi Poorey. The couple separated in 2022 after 19 years of marriage, with their divorce finalized in February 2025.
