Shweta Tripathi

Shweta Tripathi was born in New Delhi in 1985 but spent her formative years in Andaman and Nicobar Islands before returning to the mainland for education. She studied Fashion Communication at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, beginning her entertainment career as a production assistant. Her father serves in the Indian Administrative Service.

After early television appearances on Disney’s Kya Mast Hai Life, Tripathi made her film debut with Trishna in 2011. Her breakthrough arrived with Masaan in 2015, where her nuanced portrayal of Shaalu Gupta earned critical recognition. The role established her as an actress willing to take on morally complex characters in independent films.

Tripathi achieved widespread recognition through the web series Mirzapur, where her character Golu Gupta became iconic. She married actor Chaitanya Sharma in 2018 and founded the theatre production company AllMyTea Productions, diversifying her work beyond screen acting. She represents a cohort of Indian actors who built prominence via digital platforms rather than traditional Bollywood routes.
