Sohum Shah

Sohum Shah is an Indian actor and producer who has quietly become one of the most respected champions of content-driven Hindi cinema. Through his banner Recyclewala Films he produced and starred in Anand Gandhi’s National Award-winning Ship of Theseus (2012).

His defining achievement is the folk-horror film Tumbbad (2018), which he produced and led, and which opened the Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival before becoming a lasting cult classic. On streaming he has anchored acclaimed series like Maharani and Dahaad.

Selective and producer-minded, he backs distinctive films and often stars in them himself.
