Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of the actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, made one of the more emphatic debuts of her generation, cast opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg and instantly established as the wholesome, small-town heroine of a certain kind of masala blockbuster. For a while the industry seemed content to leave her there.

Lootera showed she had considerably more range, a restrained, period-set performance that the box office ignored and the admirers never forgot. In recent years she has moved decisively toward streaming, headlining the crime series Dahaad and taking a key role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s lavish Heeramandi, which suited her better than most of the films did.

Married to the actor Zaheer Iqbal, she remains a familiar face on the Mumbai circuit and an easy subject for the pack. Our cameras catch her regularly.
