Sonam Kapoor is an Indian actress and daughter of veteran actor Anil Kapoor. She debuted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya (2007), which tanked commercially, but recovered with the romantic comedy I Hate Luv Storys (2010).
Her breakthrough arrived with Raanjhanaa (2013) and crystallized with the 2016 biographical thriller Neerja, portraying hijack victim Neerja Bhanot. That role earned her the National Film Award and established her as a serious performer. Veere Di Wedding (2018) became one of Bollywood’s highest-grossing female-led films, while supporting roles in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Sanju proved her range.
Married to businessman Anand Ahuja since 2018, Kapoor has cultivated a secondary career as a fashion and film commentator, regularly appearing on Forbes India’s Celebrity 100. She specializes in playing complex, ordinary Indian women and maintains an active voice in philanthropy and cultural criticism.
