Sonu Sood is an Indian actor, producer and humanitarian born on 30 July 1973 in Moga, Punjab, who works across Hindi, Telugu and Tamil cinema. Tall and imposing, he built a career largely as a memorable screen villain.
He won awards for his menacing turn opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg (2010), played the antagonist in Simmba, and was a formidable presence in the Telugu hit Arundhati and the period epic Jodhaa Akbar. Beyond films he became a national figure for his large-scale relief work during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning a UN humanitarian award.
Known as much now for his philanthropy as his acting, he has become an unusual kind of public hero.
