Sunny Deol

Sunny Deol, eldest son of the veteran star Dharmendra, built his stardom on a very specific commodity: righteous fury. When he raised his voice and his considerable frame in Ghayal or Damini, audiences roared, and the “dhai kilo ka haath” line from Gadar became folk shorthand for a certain kind of thundering Hindi-film heroism.

Border made him the face of the patriotic war film, and then, in one of the more remarkable comebacks in recent memory, Gadar 2 in 2023 became a colossal blockbuster more than two decades after the original, proving the appetite for his brand of full-throated masala had never really gone away. He has directed as well as starred, and served a term in Parliament.

He is a less frequent paparazzi presence than the younger crowd, which makes each sighting count. Our cameras are happy to have him.
