Tej Sapru

Born to actors D.K. Sapru and Hemvati Sapru in 1955, Tej Sapru inherited the family trade and turned himself into a reliable fixture of Hindi cinema for over three decades. With more than 190 films and 50 TV series under his belt, he’s mastered the art of the supporting player and the menacing antagonist, the guy you needed when your plot required someone authoritative, threatening, or both.

His filmography charts the arc of 1980s-90s commercial Hindi cinema, from action vehicles like Tridev and Mohra to romantic dramas like Saajan and Sirf Tum. On television, he’s bounced between period epics and contemporary dramas: Chandragupta Maurya, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat, and the long-running soap Qubool Hai saw his talent for dignified bearing and dramatic presence.

A cousin of actor Jeevan through his father’s side, Sapru represents a particular kind of Bollywood durability, the working actor who never quite became a headline name but remained too useful to overlook whenever a film or series needed gravitas.
