Tigmanshu Dhulia is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter and actor born on 3 July 1967, one of the most distinctive chroniclers of India’s heartland on screen. A former casting director who worked on Bandit Queen, he made his directorial debut with the politically charged campus drama Haasil (2003).
He earned his greatest acclaim directing the biographical Paan Singh Tomar, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, and the Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster series. As an actor he is unforgettable as the cold crime boss Ramadhir Singh in Gangs of Wasseypur.
Equally at home behind and in front of the camera, he brings an authentic small-town texture to his work.
