Tisca Chopra is an Indian actress, author and film producer born November 1, 1973, in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh. She graduated from Hindu College, University of Delhi with a degree in English literature and trained in theatre with Naseeruddin Shah and Feroz Khan. Over her career spanning theatre, feature films and television, she has appeared in more than 50 films across Hindi, Punjabi and other Indian languages, working with prominent directors including Aamir Khan and Prakash Jha.
Her breakthrough came with the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, India’s official Academy Awards entry, which earned her a Filmfare nomination. The 2013 film Qissa, in which she played a refugee, premiered at the Toronto Film Festival and won the NETPAC Award. Beyond acting, she has written and produced multiple projects, including the award-winning short film Chutney and the bestselling book Acting Smart published by HarperCollins.
Chopra has contributed to education through her work with the National Knowledge Commission and is active across multiple media including digital series like Hostages and Dahan. She remains a recognizable figure in Indian cinema for her nuanced performances and commitment to socially conscious storytelling.
