Triptii Dimri

Triptii Dimri is one of the few actors of her generation who arrived twice. The first time was quietly, on merit, in films most of the country had not yet caught up with. The second time was Animal, after which she could not walk through an airport unnoticed.

Born in New Delhi in 1994 to a Garhwali family, she studied psychology at Sri Aurobindo College before training as an actor at the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. She debuted in the 2017 comedy Poster Boys, then took her first lead the following year in Laila Majnu, a romantic drama that found its real audience years after release.

Her reputation was built on two Anvita Dutt films. Bulbbul in 2020 won her a Filmfare OTT Award and showed a range nobody had asked her for yet, and Qala in 2022 confirmed it was not a fluke. Forbes Asia put her on its 30 Under 30 list in 2021, before the mainstream had noticed.

Then Animal landed in 2023. A supporting role in the year’s biggest action film earned her a Filmfare nomination and turned her into one of the most searched names in the country, more or less overnight. She followed it with the comedies Bad Newz and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in 2024.
