Yashpal Sharma is an Indian actor born on 1 January 1967 in Hisar, Haryana, a National School of Drama graduate who became a familiar face of hard-edged, realistic Hindi cinema. He discovered acting through local Ramlila performances before formal training.
He is remembered as the villager Lakha in the Oscar-nominated Lagaan (2001), the ruthless Randhir Singh in Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, and for gritty roles in Prakash Jha’s Gangaajal and Ram Gopal Varma’s Ab Tak Chhappan. He has appeared in more than a hundred films across languages.
A powerful, earthy performer, he brings menace and authenticity to his character roles.
