Zareen Khan

Zareen Khan got the sort of debut most actors would sell a kidney for, and then spent years dealing with what came attached to it. Born in 1987, she was launched in 2010 in Veer, opposite Salman Khan, and earned a Zee Cine Award nomination for Best Female Debut. Being introduced by the biggest star in the country buys enormous visibility and a set of comparisons nobody could survive.

She kept working. Jatt James Bond took her to Punjabi cinema in 2014, and Hate Story 3 in 2015 put her back in a Hindi lead. She has been candid since about the judgement that followed that film and the assumptions people made about why she took it, which is more honesty than the industry usually offers on the subject.
